Marriage Licenses & Ceremonies

The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand issues Marriage Licenses at the Municipal Office, located at 10836 County Road 2, Grafton Ontario. To apply for a marriage license you must complete the Marriage License Application Form. The application typically takes about 20 minutes to complete.

A marriage license can only be issued to the applicants named on the application. Only one applicant is required to attend the Municipal Office to obtain the license; however, they must bring two (2) pieces of valid identification for both applicants.

When submitting your application, you must provide the date and location of your marriage ceremony. Once issued, a marriage license is valid for 90 days and may be used anywhere in Ontario.

Marriage Ceremonies

Civil marriage ceremonies may be held at the Township Municipal Office during regular office hours or at another Township-owned property, including parks, subject to availability and consultation with the Clerk’s Department.

At the time of booking your wedding ceremony, you will need to provide:

  • Ceremony fee

  • A valid Province of Ontario marriage license (please arrange for your license before booking)

  • A valid piece of photo ID for each partner (parental consent is required for those 16-17 years old)
