Township of Alnwick/Haldimand Council Meeting Update Newsletter – June 2026
June 9, 2026 – Regular Council Meeting:
Council received a report regarding Wicklow Boat Launch Dredging and Revenue Generation. Council approved the dredging of Wicklow Boat Launch in the spring of 2027 with the authorization to use the full amount available in the Dredging Reserves. Council also directed staff to explore implementing a fee system for the Wicklow Boat Launch in 2027 with a report being provided to Council by the end of 2026.
Council received a report regarding Human Resource Support for Ongoing Union Negotiations. Council authorized an additional $60,000 for HR Support Services to be funded from the Working Capital allocation within the General Government Reserve.
Council considered correspondence from the Centreton Union Cemetery Board of Trustees regarding a Request for Fee Waiver and Loads of Gravel. Council approved the fee waiver for the Centreton Community Centre for Decoration Day activities.
Council received recommendations from the Haldimand Community Memorial Arena and Recreational Complex Ad Hoc Committee. Council approved the Haldimand Community Memorial Arena and Recreational Complex Fundraising Campaign Donation and Recognition Levels and endorsed the Donor Bill of Rights.
Council received a report regarding Interim Integrity Commissioner and Closed Meeting Investigator Services. Council passed a by-law to appoint John Ewart of Ewart O’Dwyer LLP as the Interim Integrity Commissioner and Closed Meeting Investigator.
June 23, 2026 – Municipal Planning / Regular Council Meeting
Council passed a by-law for a Zoning By-law amendment for 10063 County Road 2 (Z-04-2026).
Council passed a by-law for a Zoning By-law amendment for 138 Ingham Road (Z-13-2024).
Council passed a by-law to Stop Up and Convey Road Allowances for 843 Eddystone Road.
Council received the following reports for information:
o Planning Department Q1 Activity;
o Public Works Quarterly Update;
o By-law and Fire Department 2025 Activity;
o By-law and Fire Department 2026 Activity;
o Nawautin Nature Sanctuary 2026 Maintenance Plan;
o 2024 Annual Council Remuneration Report;
o 2025 Treasurer’s Statement on Development Charges; and
o Clerk’s Department Update.
Council considered a report regarding Canada Day 2026 Special Event Budget.
Council received a report regarding 2025 Audit Planning Report. Council authorized the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to sign the acknowledgement section of the report.
Council received a recommendation from the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee. Council directed staff to investigate expansion of boat launch user fees to all designated boat launches in the Township for 2027.
Council supported the following correspondence:
o Received from Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Township regarding Canada Post Rate Reduction for Libraries; and
o Received from the Town of Plympton-Wyoming regarding Sustainable Provincial Funding for Fire Services in Ontario.
