About the Vernonville Community Centre

In 1862, The Vernonville Community Centre was built, replacing the old log schoolhouse east of St. George Street. The new location served as a schoolhouse for decades until it closed in 1966. The next year the surrounding community joined efforts and bought the building to stand as a community centre. A local committee operated the community centre until the mid-1990s when they gave it to the Township. In 1999, a few of the Vernonville villagers went back to Council and asked if a local committee could once again take over operations of the community centre. Since then the community centre has been open year-round.
