Building Department Updates
· Spring is here and so is the itch to build! Remember, the Building Department is responsible for reviewing building permit applications for compliance with the Ontario Building Code and planning/zoning compliance. Check out the new ‘Building Permit Application Guide’ along with the permit application portal link below. Don’t pay more than needed! Building without an approved permit can result in a 100% fee surcharge!

Recreation Department Updates
· The Recreation Department is now receiving bookings for baseball diamond rentals. Secure a ball diamond by completing a Facility Booking Request Form.
· Pickleball bookings are available Mondays and Thursdays at the Alnwick Civic Centre from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Secure your pickleball court by completing a Facility Booking Request Form.

Finance Department Updates
· Reminder, the second installment for property taxes is due on April 23, 2026.
· The 2026 Municipal Budget was approved at the February 11, 2026, Special Council Meeting. After a thorough review, Council approved a 5.09% levy increase to fund the capital and operating budgets for 2026. To view the entire budget package please visit:

Clerk’s Department Updates
· Township Offices will be closed Friday, April 3, 2026, and Monday, April 6, 2026, for Good Friday and Easter Monday.
· Township is currently seeking volunteers to join the Heritage Alnwick/Haldimand Advisory Committee and Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. If you’re interested in local heritage or community recreation, we encourage you to apply here:

2026 Municipal Elections
· Make sure you’re registered to vote by confirming, updating or adding your information at RegisterToVoteON.ca.
· Local municipalities have teamed up to host a joint information session for prospective candidates. This free public workshop offers a clear, down-to-earth look at what it means to serve on Council. You’ll learn how municipal government works, what Council members actually do, and what to expect if you decide to run. Workshop will be held at the Baltimore Recreation Centre (23 Community Centre Road, Baltimore) on April 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
· Stay tuned for an election training session being hosted by Northumberland County, lead by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing that will be hosted in early May.
